Imagine yourself walking the same trail used by the local First Nations people for thousands of years!  This ancient trail of outstanding beauty links the communities of Faro and Ross River.  Running through the forests and along the bluffs overlooking the Pelly River you will get magnificent views and good wildlife watching opportunities, depending on the season.  There are four cabins along the trail and you will have a registered wilderness guide and two pack dogs along who will carry a share of the food.  You will hike an average of 3-7 hours per day with breaks to enjoy the scenery.  This hike is suitable for anybody in good shape and able to walk 3-7 hours per day with a backpack between 12 and 17KG (25-35Lbs.).  There are some steep stretches and the climate can be hot and dry.

You will start this adventure by flying to Whitehorse on Air North – Yukon’s Airline and then pick up your SUV or MiniVan for the 350KM drive to Faro – Yukon’s Best Kept Secret – in the central Yukon.  Here you will stay for two nights with a day to explore the local highlights or take in a game of golf on a 9 hole course that wanders right through the centre of the town (clubs are available at the Visitor Centre) plus get yourself organized for the hike.  On completion of the hike you will be brought back to Faro for an overnight and time to rest before returning to Whitehorse where you will spend another night and have some time to explore the museums, fine dining and shopping.

Return airfare on Air North – Yukon’s Airline – from Calgary, Edmonton or Vancouver; SUV or Mini-Van rental for 8 days with 2000 free KM; 3 nights accommodation Faro Studio Hotel; 1 night accommodation at a Westmark hotel in Whitehorse; 5 day (4 night) hike on Dena Cho Trail (Faro to Ross River) with registered wilderness guide, meals, pack dogs, 2 person tent and sleeping mats, and transportation to trailhead and back from Ross River.
