DENA CHO TRAIL HIKE & CANOE ADVENTURE – 10 nights from $2483.25CDN The Dena Cho Trail links the communities of Faro and Ross River running through the forests and along the bluffs overlooking the Pelly River with magnificent views and good wildlife watching opportunities, depending on the season. There are four cabins along the trail and you will have a registered wilderness guide and two pack dogs who will carry a share of the food. This hike is suitable for anybody in good shape and able to walk 3-7 hours per day with a backpack between 12 and 17KG (25-35Lbs). There are some steep stretches and the climate can be hot and dry, breaks to enjoy the scenery will be taken. After an overnight in Ross River you will return to Faro by canoe on the Pelly River, enjoying the beautiful cottonwood and spruce forests, spectacular rock formations and hoodoos. Many sandy beaches offer first class camping and swimming spots. You will overnight with your registered wilderness guide somewhere along the way. The river in this stretch is easy and rates class 1. However, there are always some risks related to canoeing and it is preferable to possess some canoeing skills. If you have never canoed before we advise that you take a basic course at home before traveling. The trip on the river will end by the bridge which crosses the Pelly on the access road into Faro from the Robert Campbell highway. You will be brought into town where you have an overnight and time to rest before returning to Whitehorse where you will spend another night and have some time to explore the museums, fine dining and shopping.
